When inviting friends over to your house for a little get-together, you want to have everything perfect. But sometimes there simply isn’t enough time to prepare everything in meticulous detail. Perhaps it is a spontaneous visit or you forgot – but don’t worry. We put together a list of instant appetizers for your party catering. These healthy snacks can be put together in no time.
Salami Rolls: Spread slices of genoa salami or sopressata with a thin layer of cream cheese, then roll up and secure with a toothpick. Thread a pitted olive through the toothpick to make it look nice.
Meaty Sandwich Bites: Get a few baguettes (depending on how many guests you have), spread some olive oil on it and add smoked duck (or any different meat) as well as some greens and dressing. Simply cut the baguette (sandwich) in mouth-size bites and stick a toothpick throw each to keep it all steady. Done!
Cocktail Skewers: Take some cooked shrimps out of your freezer and skewer the shrimps. Add some red bell pepper squares and keep them nicely chilled in the fridge. Take sour cream, lemon juice and dill and mix it all together. That’s it already – simply serve it as a dip with the skewers.
Shrimp Cocktail Shots: This is super fun and much loved. Either make your own cocktail sauce or get one from the supermarket and thin it with lemon juice. Take a shot glass and fill it halfway with the mix. Simply add a tail-on shrimp to each (perhaps also a celery stick, if you want.)
Chip & Dip: It’s one of the easiest things to put on the table and will never be refused. Open up a pack of chips (or crisps – depending on where you are from) and present it on a plate with dip. You can even offer a variety if you have – hummus, greek yoghurt, salsa – all of which are ready straight from the box.
Tomato & Mozzarella: Another no-brainer – this snack you won’t be putting back into the fridge. Take some mini cherry tomatoes (or slice normal sized ones), slide buffalo mozzarella and add some basil leaves, olive oil and salt.
Veggie Roll: Slice a courgette (zucchini) or aubergine very thinly lengthwise and fry the slices in oil on both sides. Spread some cream cheese or pesto on each, roll them up and spike a toothpick through it. Done – that’s all.
Spicy Nuts: This is perfect if you want to scale it up. Dip a pack (or two) of raw nuts into a mix of maple syrup, sesame oil, brown sugar and cayenne pepper (careful here) and roast it all at 375° in the oven for about 8 minutes.
Sweet Cheesy Bites: Take ordinary toast, throw it into the toaster and cut each toast in two (diagonally) or four (square) pieces. Spread some ricotta or cream cheese on them and finish it off with some honey sprinkling. Toast, spread and sprinkle – like a factory.
