Who says the soul has only one colour? Life is full of colours and there is no reason why one shouldn’t celebrate that fact. The same holds for parties. When organising a get-together with friends or family, one can easily up the fun and throw some colour into it.
However, not everybody feels comfortable getting their hands lost in colour. We will give you some easy tips about how to colour code your party themes.
If you want to start of easy and don’t have any other big theme involved, then simply start by picking one single colour. Don’t make it too hard for yourself and choose an easy one, if you are doing it for the first time. Orange is fairly easy to pull off. It’s quite natural and combines well with food and drinks.
Prepare some orange cocktails, such as the Screwdriver. All you need is a glass, vodka and orange juice. Learn more about how to get your cocktails recipes right. Surely you should have some orange juice and oranges on the table.
– 1/4 of vodka
– 3/4 of orange juice
Here there is plenty to play with, especially if you are having a cocktail party. Design your canapés colour specific. How about canapé appetisers with salmon? Chef Jazmyn Png and her canapé menu offer smoked salmon, cream and dill on biscotti. Or perhaps some tomato cucumber gazpacho, which can look orange with the right combination – chef Shawn Yan show us how.
Take it easy with the colour coded table. Dressing everything is orange will be an overkill. Flowers and some decoration in your chosen colour will be enough to keep your colour party themes going. If you have a long table, place a few vases with either orange tulips or clementines spread across the length. Additionally you may want to opt for orange napkins and coloured menus.
Ask your guests to each wear one piece of orange clothing. It will create an intimate feeling and give your party themes a special community feel to it. You do have to let your guests know way in advance, otherwise they will feel overwhelmed and feel already stressed before coming to your party.
Colour coding your party themes is all about subtlety not excess. Don’t overdo it, but do distribute some extras around your party. If you go for orange, then candles (especially white or orange ones) will be ideal. When night transcends on your party, the candles will hold up the colour theme all night.
