Chicken Rice Is #1 Daily Food in Singapore
Chicken rice has been eaten the most in the last 30 days. 71% of respondents said they ate Chicken Rice in the last 30 days, followed by Curry Chicken (59%), Nasi Lemak (55%), Wantan Mee (54%) and Roti Prata (52%). 31% of respondents would insist their friends or colleagues visiting Singapore try Chili Crab. Indeed if you are looking for a memorable food discovery in Singapore, it is hard to overlook the famous Chili Crab. The second choice is Chicken Rice (20%), followed by Bak Kut Teh (9%).
National Food of Singapore
37% of respondents believe Chili Crab should be considered the national food of Singapore. 20% would rather prefer it to be Chicken Rice, and 7% would choose Laksa. Chili Crab is a very famous invention of Singapore. The recipe was created in 1950 by Singaporean chef, Madam Cher Yam Tian with her husband, Mr Lim Choon Ngee. The name of the dish is slightly misleading, it is not a very spicy dish and can be enjoyed by people who are not accustomed to spicy food. It seems that the love for Chili Crab and Chicken Rice is deeply engraved in the hearts of Singaporeans.
