Every now and then a good feel Chef Movie is all you need. We watched a lot of them and created our little Chef’opedia from the screens, it’s time for some fun.
Chef Movie #1: Chefs are Magicians
…who make you re-live your cherished moments.
They do a little Abracadabra with their recipes to whip out ones most cherished memories. Who doesn’t love the movie “Ratatouille”? The unconventional rat, Remy, with his gifted whiskernose flees away from the rat colony and finds himself cooking ratatouille to the stubborn critic Anton Ego. One bite into the slice of heaven, Ego feels like a child again!
Any food cooked with the sugary spice called “Love” will melt just about anyone, even a bad shorty like Chef Skinner. Our favourite local magician is chef Eric Low.
Chef Movie #2: Chefs are Perfectionists!
Chef Kate played by Ooomph! Catherine Zeta Jones, in the movie “No Reservations”, believes she never goes wrong with her ladle. And I don’t think any of us want to argue with that. Do you? If you want to experience real perfectionism on your plate, then you should talk to chef Asai Masashi.

Chef Movie #3: Chefs are Present in the Moment
The famous “Prison feast” from the Goodfellas movie hasn’t lost its charm after all these years: the prison boys, ganging up to cook a scrumptious meal with baguettes, steak, scotch and garlic! Yep, garlic just stole the scene without dialogues. Being present in the moment, that’s the only way become a master chef like Silvio Morelli.
TIP from the Gangsta boys:
When you fine slice garlic it will melt smoothly into the oil giving your dish that piquant aroma.
Chef Movie #4: Chefs Won’t Stop
…till they prove the critics wrong.
Whoever has seen the TV series Friends knows that she was more than just a cleaning freak. How can anyone forget all the mouthwatering thanksgiving spreads. Critical success can be important. Chef Immanuel Stroobant has bad success ever since he came to Singapore 12 years ago.
Warning: Never praise the apprentice in front of a chef!
Chef Movie #5: Chefs Won’t Reveal Secret
Chef Leona in the movie “Mystic Pizza” puts her foot down when it comes to revealing the magic herb that she uses to whip up the delectable pizza sauce. The movie was such a huge hit that the restaurant with the same name in Connecticut, USA had fans swarming in from everywhere.
Chef Rinat Valiev won’t reveal secrets either – his homemade vodka is perfection though.
Chef Movie #6: Chefs are Really Busy
Just get a glimpse of the Haute Cuisine movie to understand what we are talking about. Chefs start their workday at sunrise to get the freshest ingredients and finish late at night when the last guest leaves satisfied. Chefs often don’t just cook, but write, create recipes and consult – chef Benson Tong can tell you about it.
Chef Movie #7: Male Chefs are just SO Sexy!
Just check how super agent Johnny English combines cooking with directing an invisible orchestra – just pure awesomeness! Have you seen chef Federico Pinzi yet? Well, you should.
Chef Movie #8: Female Chefs are Our Inspiration
They can be as sweet and tender as their best Panna Cotta, and as tough as a soldier on the Kitchen-line. My personal inspiration is chef Devagi Sanmugam.
Of the many misadventures during her milestone to cook 524 recipes from Julia Child’s book, our lovely Chef Julie finds it awfully tough and heart wrenching to throw a lobster into a boiling pan.
Chef Movie #9: Chefs Help Anyone Appreciate Good Food
Absolutely nobody can resist them. Just like the local rising star chef Brandon Foo.
